Andrey Prokofiev was born in 1970 in Bern, Switzerland. His father's job required frequent international travel, so from his early years Andrey has acquired a taste for traveling and experiencing nature and culture of different countries. His exposure to photography began in childhood with watching family photos on a slide projector as a favorite family pastime and continued into school years and the Navy service when Andrey was processing his own black and white film and prints.

     Andrey's advanced degree in Computer Systems Engineering and Computer Science helped him to accept a technical position at one of major US companies and move to the USA in 2000. With his technical background he naturally embraced digital photography when he bought his first digital camera in 2001 and began to leverage the golden ratio in his composition.

     Andrey's passion evolved into travel and nature photography brought to a professional level. In his photographs Andrey tries to capture the essence of a place as he sees it the first time and convey emotions he feels at that moment. As you cannot step in the same river twice, his ultimate goal is to make a beautiful print that preserves the memory of the moment and inspires others to visit the place and have experience of their own. Andrey is constantly refining his skills, not just taking photographs, but also learning to apply best techniques to process raw data he gets from his camera's sensor to make best possible prints.
